Reaching out to the Children of Jamaica
Welcome to our first newsletter. Thank you for your continued support throughout our first year of operation and as we work towards providing a national free 24hr Jamaica Childline service to reach out to the children of Jamaica.
This is 'Child Month' in Jamaica and we were hoping to launch our first newsletter in conjunction with the Jamaica Childline launch. However, the launch has been delayed as we are still awaiting the authority of the Office of the Utilities Regulations OUR (equivalent of OFTEL) to start using the line.
We have the support of the Jamaican High Commissioner, The Minister of Education, Youth & Information and are in talks with all other stakeholders in order to get the OUR's ruling lifted on the basis that prior approval was given to us and the charitable need that exists. Result expected soon!
Child abuse in Jamaica is at an alarmingly high level with little or no resources to support those who have been abused or at risk of abuse. There is no dedicated Childline counselling service and the children of Jamaica are in desperate need of help.
PLEASE PRAY FOR A QUICK RESOLUTION!
