Reaching out to the children of Jamaica who are victims of abuse

Exciting News, Childline Jamaica Free Phoneline
Approved and will be Connected Soon!

Welcome to the second EPOCC newsletter.  We have fantastic news regarding the progress that has been made and thank you for your continued support throughout our second operational year. Your support has helped us to persevere in working towards a free 24hr Childline Jamaica service to reach out to the children of Jamaica.

Child abuse in Jamaica continues to be at an alarmingly high level with little or no resources to support those who have been abused or at risk of abuse. There is no dedicated Childline counselling service and the children of Jamaica are in desperate need of help.  We are extremely proud to announce that in the last week FLOW Telecom have confirmed that approval has been provided by the regulators for our free phone line to be issued.  In addition, we are securing an agreement that FLOW and Digicel to work in partnership to give free access to children calling via mobiles - this is exceptional as UK Childline only offered this service since 2016.

Special thanks to the Chairman of The FLOW Foundation who has tirelessly worked towards this excellent result.

This news means that we are now so much closer to being able to provide the much needed service that the children of Jamaica are crying out for. We are in the process of securing an office in the St Anne’s area to be able to make this the new secure base for EPOCC. Our aim remains to provide a free, national, 24hr Jamaica Childline service with fully trained local volunteer counsellors. We intend to start a fully funded pilot service early in the year.

We still have Charity Christmas cards designed by the children from Goodmayes Primary School, Essex for sale.  If you would like to purchase any EPOCC cards we are selling them at a reduced price of £2.50 for twelve (6 designs).
